Weather and climate of Finland

The Wind of Changes in the Finnish climate

Earths climate has varied much during millenniums. In Finland there has been both Ice Age and remarkable warmer periods than today. Therefore climates changing is a natural thing. During the latest century the average temperature of Earth has risen a half-degree. The reason for this change of climate is peoples actions that have increased the amount of greenhouse gases. Which effects does the greenhouse effect have in Finland? There is no clear answer to that question. Even the researchers disagree on the effects of the greenhouse effect in the north. According to researchers scenarios, Finlands winters will get warmer more drastically than elsewhere. The climate changing can make the Gulf Stream conduct inestimably, and this makes the predicting difficult. Finlands climate may even get colder. Probably the amount of rains will not decrease, but increase. In this case our countrys climate would remind the current climate of Middle-Europe. The greenhouse effect will also affect the vegetation of Finland. Leafy forests are assumed to breed and evergreen woods move further northwards.
