Time and place

The meeting will be organized August 9-14, 1998 at the Institute for Management and Technological Training (POHTO) Vellamontie 12, Oulu. The venue is located on the island of Hietasaari within a walking distance from the city center. The date is chosen to allow ornithologists traveling to the 22nd International Ornithological Congress in South Africa (August 16 - 22, 1998) to combine the two symposia. POHTO has excellent congress facilities and can offer board and lodging (single and double rooms) at a standard hotel level for 50-90 participants at a reasonable rate. Guests planning to travel with their families can rent a second double room at 200 FIM/day or stay at the Spa Hotel Eden vis-à-vis POHTO. There is also a modern camping area at the same location. It is our intention to keep all costs at a reasonable level. Funding will be applied to keep the registration fee as low as possible.
