Current research activities:

1) Past Climate extremes in the North Project (PACE-project) (see:http://thule.oulu.fi/projects/pace.html) under APEX (Arctic Palaeoclimate and its Extremes) activities (see: http://www.apex.geo.su.se/ )
Subproject in the PACE focuses on the Onset and decay of last cold stage in northern Fennoscandia and adjacent areas. Our research group concentrates on the environmental changes in northern Fennoscandia and NW Russia during the past 130 000 years. Currently we carry out research on

• shore displacement and the palaeoenvironmental changes in the White Sea Basin area, NW Russia during the past 15 000 years 
• onset and decay of the Scandinavian Ice sheet in Finland and Russian Karelia
• deglaciation history of Tana River valley, northern Finnish Lapland and Finnmarken, Norway

2) The application of Ground Penetrating Radar for architectural element analysis of glaciofluvial formations
Collaboration with the Geological Survey of Finland.

3) Application of GPR-method in hydrogeology
Collaboration with the Geological Survey of Finland.
