Main Research interests:

Glacial geology and sedimentology, geochemistry, weathering, clay mineralogy, drift prospecting, environmental geology.

Research projects:

1. Ore exploration in the Northern Ostrobothnia schist area
2. Geochemistry and heavy minerals of surficial deposits in ore exploration (jointly with Outokumpu Co. and Geological Survey of Finland (Mr. P. Sarala)
3. Weathering and clay minerals in Finland and Bangladesh
4. Acidification of surficial deposits and waters (jointly with Dr. P. Lahermo from the Geological Survey of Finland)
5. Groundwater resources in the glaciofluvial deposits in northern Ostrobothnia (jointly with Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Environment Centre and Water Office of the city of Oulu)
6. Clay deposits and their exploitation (jointly with the communes of Lumijoki and Taivalkoski)
7. Submarine sand and gravel deposits in Bothnian Bay (jointly with National Board of Forestry of Finland)
