The get-together party will follow immediately the opening ceremony of the conference.

City Reception Monday, August 2 at 19.00-20.30 Oulu City Hall The City of Oulu cordially invites us to the City Hall Reception. The City Hall is located in the centre of Oulu, address: Kirkkokatu 2, and is within a short walking distance from the conference venue and the hotels.

Conference Tour

Wednesday, August 4

There are two alternative full-day conference tours:

 

Tour 1: Visit to the Ranua Wildlife Park and the Arctic Circle

The tour starts at 9.00 when buses leave Hotel Holiday Inn for Ranua Wildlife Park that is inhabited by 50 wild animals. There is also a Park of Domestic Animals. You can't see the Polar bear on the streets of Oulu, but in Ranua you can meet this impressive symbol of Arctic zones.

The leading idea and aim of the Wildlife Park is to offer clients living in the vicinity as well as tourists travelling from near and far the chance of seeing Nordic and Arctic animals in their most natural environment possible around the year.

Lunch will be enjoyed at Restaurant Jussan Pirtti. After the lunch the trip continues at 14.00 to the Arctic Circle, where you will visit Santa Claus Village. The village is a nice place to walk and look around and do some souvenir shopping. Participants of Tour 2 will join you in the Village.

Dinner will be served in panoramic Restaurant Sky Ounasvaara. The menu includes Lappish delicacies as well as international culinary delights to bring our guests unforgettable gastronomic experiences in a splendid natural setting. The rooftop panorama terrace offers views of the wonderful scenery.

Buses back to Oulu leave around 20.00 and you will be back in the hotel before midnight.

 

Tour 2: Visit to the Arctic Circle and Rovaniemi

The tour starts at 9.00 when buses leave Hotel Holiday Inn. A short break will be made in Pudasjärvi.

The tour continues to Rovaniemi. You will have a lunch in Arktikum. After the lunch you will have a chance to visit the Arktikum Museum and Exhibition. Arktikum provides a unique insight into the way of life, culture and history of the North. It is a museum, science centre, popular cultural venue with impressive meeting and congress facilities and an architectural sight in its own right. The permanent and temporary exhibitions portray culture, history, traditions and modern life in the Arctic regions.

At 15.00 the bus will continue to the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Village. The participants of Tour 1 will join you in the Village. The dinner in Restaurant Sky Ounasvaara and the return to Oulu follows the same schedule as for Tour 1.

 

Conference Dinner

Friday, August 6 at 19.00
Maikkula Mansion

The Conference Dinner will be held in Maikkula Mansion. You will have a unique possibility to experience a traditional Finnish smoke sauna and swimming in the Oulu River.

Bus transportation from the Conference Hotels starts at 18.30. The route of the busses is as follows: Radisson Blue Hotel Oulu at 18.30, Hotel Holiday Inn, Hotel & Restaurant Lasaretti.

Return transportation departs at ca. 23:30 and 00:30.
