HOF: ECOLOGICAL GRADIENT ANALYSIS USING HUISMAN--OLFF--FRESCO MODELS
Jari Oksanen
Version 2.3
The program HOF fits Huisman-Olff-Fresco models. The models are based on:
Huisman,J, Olff,H & Fresco,LFM (1993): A hierarchical set of models for
species response analysis. J. Veg. Sci. 4, 37-46. The fitting is done using
maximum-likelihood estimation (with Poisson or Binomial error). More complete
explanation of the principles of model fitting and interpretation of the results
can be found through
http://www.helsinki.fi/~jhoksane/. There is no separate manual for the version 2. This
readme.txt file explains only the major differences to version 1. The manual
for version 1 can be found in the above web address. The program accepts data
input as CANOCO-formatted files in condensed, open or ``free'' formats. Start
the program writing `hof' in MS-DOS prompt. The program asks for necessary
information. However, several other parameters can be changed invoking the
program with command line switches. To see the available switches, type `hof
-h'.
