To Hailuoto (Monday, May 30)
A (free) ferry operates between Hailuoto and mainland (Oulunsalo). We plan to start early on Tuesday morning and it is therefore recommended that the participants will arrive already during Monday, May 30. A charter bus (operated by Koskilinjat Oy) to Hailuoto will pick up participants on Monday as follows:
This schedule is designed to match the following connections:
- Oulu railway station: around 15:30
- Oulu airport: around 16:00
- Train form Helsinki leaves at 9:30 and arrives in Oulu at 15:31.
- Finnair flight from Helsinki leaves at 14:30 and arrives in Oulu at 15:35.
- Blue1 flight from Helsinki leaves at 14:50 and arrives in Oulu at 16:00.
Another way to get to Hailuoto is to take bus no. 66 (operated by A. Mörö Oy) from Oulu bus station at 16:10 which arrives at the Bothnian Bay research station at 17:50. If you come in a private car, please note the ferry schedules.
From Hailuoto (Thursday, June 2)
The charter bus will leave the Bothnian Bay research station at around 14:00 and drop passangers off at the airport and at the railway station. This will make the following connections convenient:
- Train form Oulu leaves at 17:45 and arrives in Helsinki at 23:30.
- Finnair flight from Oulu leaves at 16:30 and arrives in Helsinki at 17:30.
- Blue1 flight from Oulu leaves at 16:25 and arrives in Helsinki at 17:30.
Note that early booking guarantees cheapest rates on flights.
Note: please inform Tarja Hämäläinen (see contact information below) of your travel plan so that we know who should be picked up at railway station and at the airport.
