Saturday June 21, 2008, 09.00 - 12.30 Workshop
Workshop aim:

The idea of this workshop is to bring together scientists who are interested in understanding the mental processes involved in design. We invite researchers and practitioners to a discussion on the methods in approaching design thinking.

Focus will be on cognitive approach. How is it possible to explore scientifically the mental movements and physical activities which lead to a design?

The participants are encouraged to expound their own ideas in exploring design thinking.

Workshop format:

Some examples of research approaches will be given by the organizers: e.g. content-based design analysis, experiments on blindfolded designing, how designers construct design problems. The participants shall have possibility to present and demonstrate their ideas. The final format of the workshop will be adjusted according to the interests and needs of the participants.

Submission information:

Proposals for discussion should be delivered to <kalevi.nevala@oulu.fi> latest by 20 May 2008 in a form of a short abstract and possible additional information. The revised submissions by 15 June are expected to be written in the Conference format as an extended abstract.
