There are four spectrometers, all manufactured by Bruker. The spectrometer consoles are run by either SGI o2 computers (DPX200, DPX400 and DRX500) or a Linux PC (DSX300) using the program XWinNMR 3.5. There is also a moveable hyperpolarizer to produce hyperpolarized xenon gas for materials research.

DPX200

Proton resonance frequency: 200 MHz. Two channels.
Mainly used for routine 1D 1H and 13C spectroscopy.

Probeheads:

  • 5-mm BBI (BroadBand Inverse) with z-gradients
  • 10-mm BBO (BroadBand Observe)
  • 5-mm 1H/13C DUAL

DSX300

Proton resonance frequency: 300 MHz. Two channels.

Mainly used for materials research. Equipped with solid state apparatus as well as a micro-imaging unit.

Probeheads:

  • 10-mm BBO
  • Micro-imaging probehead with 10-mm 129Xe and 1H birdcage, 4-mm 1H solenoid and 15-mm 129Xe EVT coils. x,y,z-gradients
  • 7-mm MAS (Magic Angle Spinning)
  • 7-mm VAS (Variable Angle Spinning)
  • Wideline probeheads for solids applications

DPX400

Proton resonance frequency: 400 MHz. Two channels.

Mainly used for inorganic chemistry, but also for 2D and other more demanding 1H/13C spectroscopy.

Probeheads:

  • 10-mm BBO
  • 5-mm BBI with z-gradients
  • 5-mm 1H/13C DUAL with z-gradients

DRX500

Proton resonance frequency: 500 MHz. Three channels.

Mainly used for biomolecular research and other applications demanding as high a magnetic field as possible.

Probeheads:

  • 5-mm 1H/13C/15N TXI with z-gradients
  • 5-mm BBI with z-gradients
  • 10-mm BBO
