XeMat 2009, the 4th International
Symposium on Xenon NMR of Materials, will be organized by the NMR
Research Group from the Department of Physical Sciences, University
of Oulu, Finland. The meeting will take place in a beautiful setting
right by the Ruka fell in Kuusamo, Finland, June 7. - 10. 2009.
The NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectroscopic properties of
xenon are extremely sensitive to the surrondings of a xenon atom
making the method suitable for research on the properties of various
materials. Due to its applicability on versatile subjects, the xenon
NMR has found its way into studies ranging from basic physics to
medical applications, giving the field its inherently
interdisciplinary nature. The aim of the conference is to
gather together the scientists around the world working in the field
of xenon NMR as applied to materials research. The symposium will be
the fourth triennial meeting following its predecessors arranged in
Sestri Levante, Italy (2000), Nice, France (2003) and Ottawa, Canada
(2006).
The meeting will be arranged in conjunction with the
XXXI Finnish NMR Symposium
(June 10th - 12th) and the XeMat attendees are warmly welcomed to
join the Finnish NMR Symposium.
