Abstract

The EISCAT incoherent scatter radars are able to make high time-resolution measurements of electron density in the lower ionosphere. A series of localised electron precipitation events is analysed using the detailed time-dependent Sodankylä Ion Chemistry (SIC) model. Experimental determination of the effective recombination coefficient is used as a constraint to the model in order to analyse the response of ion and neutral composition to the precipitation.
