Abstract

The Kilpisjärvi Atmospheric Receiver Array (KAIRA) is a new facility, being constructed in the northwest of Finland by the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory. It is supported by the University of Oulu, European Regional Development Funds of Lapland and FP7 funds. This presentation sets out the progress that has been made so far, the results of our winter-testing programme and the ambitious plans that we have for the construction this summer. It also describes the context of the project and how it fits into the larger EISCAT_3D and LOFAR communities.
