Double Modals in the British Isles
This image shows administrative regions in the British Isles with statistically significant values for the local autocorrelation statistic Getis-Ord G*i, calculated using a binary spatial weights matrix and different numbers of nearest neighbors (from 4 to 30). The variable is the relative frequency of double modals per million words in transcripts from the CoBISE corpus.
Green hues indicate a statistically significant likelihood to have more double modals than the average for the entire British Isles, reddish hues fewer.
