Migration in Finland

Over 700 000 inhabitants migrates in Finland every year, two thirds within one´s own municipality. Migration does not affect on development of population but the consequences are visible in changes in regional population growth.

By migration people often seek better livelihood and standard of living. This is called target migration. Other type of migration is forced migration, which occurs when people move from town to another for the sake of an employment.
