Recently the movement of migration in Finland has centered more clearly to the so called growing centers. The arriving people come usually from the countryside and some of them come also from the cities of slower growth. The biggest centers of growth are the region of Helsinki,Uusimaa, the region of Tampere and the region of Oulu. The reason for this kind of development is the increased supply of workplaces in those areas. The desolation of countryside and the protection of services in those areas are becoming problems. To solve these problems, regional policy action is needed. On the other hand, there is growing pain in the areas of fast growth, like the shortage of apartments. Special action is needed also there. In the future the same kind of development is likely to continue, unless there comes some changes to the regional division of workplaces.
