Nonparametric estimation of functions and its applications

3D medical imaging

The project focuses of statistical analyses of craniofacial structures from 3D images of human heads. The first problem considered was to study the feasibility of automatic recognition from the 3D models of faces if a pair of twins is monozygotic or dizygotic. The next study involved development of methods to measure infant head shape deformities where the goal was to use new 3D digital surface imaging innovatively in early asymmetry diagnostics. We have also developed a new scale space method, SphereSiZer, for spherical data.
