Present group:

Dr. Janne Koskimäki, post-doc

Ph.D. in 2016 "Interaction between Methylobacterium endophytes and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)". He is characterizing molecules and genes involved in intracellular life of M. extorquens DSM13060 and mechanisms used by the bacterium to manipulate host cell.

M.Sc. Namrata Baruah, Ph.D. student

Namrata has graduated from Assam Agricultural University, AAU, Jorhat, Assam, India. She is studying the mechanisms by which endosymbiotic Methylobacterium extorquens DSM13060 manipulates the pine host and induces plant growth.

 M.Sc. Pirjo Koivusaari, Ph.D. student

Pirjo has graduated from the University of Oulu with the title "Endophyte communities in bud meristems of mountain birch recovered from moth herbivory". She works on endophytic microbial communities, their lifestyle and transmission.

 M.Sc. Phuong Nguyen, Ph.D. student

Phuong has graduated from Kyung Hee University, Yongin City, Republic of Korea. She is studying the endophytic community composition in bilberry fruits and their influences on berry secondary metabolism.

 M.Sc. Habibollah Mohammadparast, Ph.D. student

Habibollah has graduated from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. He is studying the endophyte Pseudomonas synxantha DSM13080 and its interaction with the host Scots pine.

 M.Sc. Urooj Rashid, Ph.D. student

Urooj is working on the moss Warnstorfia fluitans and its microbial symbionts to enable phytoremediation of mining and municipal wastewaters.

 M.Sc. Elisa Heilmann, Ph.D. student

Elisa is working on the common reed Phragmites australis and its microbial symbionts to enable phytoremediation of mining and municipal wastewaters.

 M.Sc. Elina Bergman, Ph.D. student

Elina is working on aquatic microbial communities and effects of environmental stress on their community shifts and physiology.
