Þurá

Arrival at Ari Eggertsson's farm, Þurá — "Dry River".

As might be expected from a farm, there were horses.

They did not seem to mind having visitors.

Ari, the farm owner, took us on a tour around the area, and explained the local geography.

In the picture, climbing up another hill.

But where does the name of the farm come from?

There is a certain geographical feature in the area...

...namely, this old lava flow down the hill that is shaped like a river.

Also the oldest road in Iceland is located here.
